Ohlone College’s prerogative is to ensure the knowledge and prosperity of their students.
With the International Telephone & Telegraph Technical Institute (ITT Tech) getting shutdown in recent weeks, some students have wondered if there is anything to be worried about moving forward here at Ohlone.
We asked Professor Leta Stagnaro, Vice President of Academic Affairs, if there were any threats towards Ohlone’s accreditation, Stagnaro said, “No- Ohlone College is currently working on writing our Mid-Term Report which is due to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges by March 15,2017.” As of right now Ohlone has met all standards and students should have nothing to worry about.
Back in 2014, Ohlone College was accredited by the Western Association for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC). Ohlone will continue to be eligible for state funding and student aid until 2020.
During the 2014 evaluation, the commission listed a few disciplines that Ohlone must improve in. Since then, Stagnaro said Ohlone has in fact corrected some of these flaws including, establishing a minimum standard for Student Achievement. After speaking to a few faculty members, it is promising that Ohlone will have and continue to show improvement in assuring their students success.
